If Your Mac Won't Boot, Try This Before Taking It In For Service

Service MacBook - It's not uncommon for Mac computers, like other PCs, to crash and won't boot due to software issues (usually after an operating system update) or hardware failure. There are many possible reasons, but the obvious one is that if your Mac won't start, you'll want to fix it as soon as possible, so in this article we're going to show you what you can do to fix it.
Before we get started on the subject, let's look at the obvious: does your Mac ever turn on? If you press the power button but nothing appears on the computer, the first thing you should check is whether the computer is connected to power. Even if what you have is a laptop that clearly has a battery, you will need to plug it into the mains because the battery may have stopped working. In this case, if you have the possibility, try a different plug or even with a different cable or adapter, as it is also possible that this element is faulty.
If Your Mac Won't Run, Unplug All Accessories
You often have a lot of accessories and peripherals connected to your computer, and it's possible that one of these is causing the problem. Therefore, one of the first things you should do is try to turn on the computer with only the power cord plugged in (this means even removing the keyboard and mouse if you have one).
If you recently installed new hardware on your Mac (such as a new RAM or hard drive), another thing you can do is try to restore the old one if the new one is causing some kind of hardware problem and causing your Mac to crash until the computer won't start up.
Do a Power Cycle
You may have tried doing the above but your Mac still won't turn on. If the computer turns on but won't boot, then the next thing to try is a full power cycle. This step involves forcing the computer to restart after completely turning off the power.
On the MacBook, with the computer turned on, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. You will hear a beep when the power goes out and forces the equipment to shut down. When you press the power button again, it will boot normally.
If you have a desktop Mac such as an iMac or Mac Mini, you will need to unplug it and leave it for at least 20-30 seconds to give the power supply and motherboard capacitors time to drain. After that, plug it back in and try turning it back on.
If Mac Won't Boot Try Restarting SMC
In some situations, you may need to reset the System Management Controller (SMC). This is usually a last resort before proceeding to reinstall the operating system and start over. Apple has a comprehensive guide for doing this based on your Mac type and version.
